Camogie

Camogie is a fantastic team sport for girls of all ages to participate in. We are fortunate here in Ballyea to have a very good club that are having great success at underage level having won in U 12, U13 and U21 county competitions. Camogie is a very important part of the local community and it is great to see the local club growing in numbers. We are very proud of all past and present players who represent the club and the county.

Camogie is very much encourgaed at school also as it is practised widely between the months of November and June each year. For several weeks of the year a visiting coach takes the children in the junior classes for coaching. A particular focus is on the refining of gross motor skills among the youngest of classes in a safe, fun filled environment.

Girls from 4th, 5th and 6th classes participate in camogie and are part of the school panel. We have training every week are very lucky to have a new astro turf and to have the use of the local GAA pitch. Girls in 4th and 5th classes take part in the annual indoor hurling tournament held in January each year.

Ballyea National School also takes part in the INTO Mini-Sevens Camogie in the springtime. The Allianz Cuman na mBunscol Camogie Championships commence in April/ May each year and this year we shall compete in Division 3 of the Championship.
