Football
Boys and Girls Gaelic Football in Ballyea National School.
Between the months of September and October each year Gaelic Football is practised by the boys and girls in the senior classes of the school. The school takes part in the annual Allianz Cuman na mBunscol Football Championships prior to the Halloween break. During the football season, our players have weekly trainings, where the focus is building good play through movement, support, high tempo and mainly teamwork through trust in colleagues and coaches.
2015 has proved a fruitful year for the boys Gaelic Football team of Ballyea NS as we went through the campaign unbeaten and were victorious in the Division 2 County Final. 2016 will see our boys compete at Division 1 level for only the second time in the school’s history. Comhghairdeas a bhuachaillí!
2015 was also a very successful year for our girls football team who beat Doora Barefield in the county final, which was held in Shannon. Our girls will also compete in division 1 next year. Well done to all our girls and our supporters for giving us some very memorable matches.
